How Jesus Saved Me

We both share two distinct turning points in our spiritual walk. The first turning point changed our eternal future: God delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son. For Danielle this happened at a Teens Encounter Christ event in 1996, and for Chris it happened through a fellow Marine in 2001. The second turning point changed our earthly future: God delivered us from our works-based version of Christianity by bringing Reformed theology into our lives. Now, rather than living with recurring fear that we will lose our salvation, we know that we are secure because of Christ’s work on the cross. It is finished. Because of that security, we’ve experienced true freedom: not from obedience but for obedience.

What I Do For Trinity

We’ve had the honor of serving our middle schoolers, high schoolers, and young adults since March of 2024. We stepped in to temporarily fill a need and truly had no idea how much it would bless us. We’re especially passionate about four things: equipping our youth with biblical literacy and theological depth; challenging young people to rise above our culture’s low expectations for them; encouraging other adults in the church to view our young people as fellow heirs with Christ; and facilitating more inter-generational discipleship.

What I Do Outside Trinity

Chris works full-time as the Marion County Facilities & Maintenance Director and also enjoys woodworking, shooting guns, blacksmithing, and gaming. Danielle has been homeschooling our four kids since 2008 - three of them have graduated and our youngest will graduate in 2027. Danielle also likes to read, drink good coffee, and spend time outside (porch-dwelling, walking, hiking, kayaking, biking). Together we enjoy playing board games and ping pong with our kids; fishing; and discussing theology, current events, and politics. We’ve been working on a home addition since 2021. When we started, our oldest was a senior in high school, and we jokingly said that we should be finished with the addition by the time we had grandkids. Turns out, the joke’s on us - our first grandchild is on the way, and we are EXCITED!

Random Fact

We spent a year living in a house with a snake infestation. It was as fun as it sounds!
